PRIX SOLO ARTGENÈVE - F.P.JOURNE 2022
Geneva, March 3rd, 2022 – The Prix Solo artgenève - F.P.Journe 2022 was awarded to the Urs Meile Gallery, for the Solo Show of Rebekka Steiger, with a special mention to the Pace Gallery for the Solo Show of Lucas Samaras.

For its tenth edition, the contemporary art fair artgenève will be held from 3 to 6 March at Palexpo, Geneva. On this occasion, the Prix Solo artgenève – F.P.Journe will single out the best monographic exhibition presented by the participating galleries. It was awarded Wednesday evening to the Urs Meile Gallery, for the Solo Show of Rebekka Steiger, with a special mention to the Pace Gallery, for the Solo Show of Lucas Samaras. The work, acquired by F.P.Journe, will be offered to an institution in the Geneva region.

A jury of three important people on the European art scene was given the task of selecting a winner from among the 20 galleries that participated. This year the jury consisted of Lionel Bovier (MAMCO Genève), Hans Ulrich Obrist (Serpentine Galleries) and Michael Ringier (Collection Ringier).

Founded by Thomas Hug and Laura Meillet, artgenève is an event that brings together all the important figures in the world of contemporary art. Since its first edition in 2011, this event has proven its international dimension and its ability to encourage a dialogue between galleries and institutions. This year the event will welcome 80 galleries and 20 Solo Shows, as well as 30 prestigious institutional exhibitions. The Ringier Collection will therefore be joined by Paris’s Centre Pompidou, Rotterdam’s Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum, and London’s Serpentine Galleries.

For its tenth anniversary, the fair will welcome visitors with monumental installations, including a 15 meter high canvas by American artist Jim Shaw. An immersive plant installation is also presented in the section artgenève/estates, a series of exhibitions concerning historic artists. This year it is devoted to the American Meg Webster in collaboration with the Paula Cooper Gallery. In addition to many interdisciplinary lectures, no fewer than three specialized platforms will be presented: artgenève sculptures, photography, and music.

While a passion for horology is the driving force in F.P.Journe’s world, it also draws on the world of art. A work is the vision of a creator that perpetuates the inheritance received from past generations, that transcends the present, untouched by the passage of time. As such, F.P.Journe’s watches are closely linked with the art world and share certain values with it. Authenticity: François-Paul Journe creates exclusive watches, made according to the principles of haute horlogerie and traditional watchmaking. Rarity: an exclusive production of 900 mechanical timepieces. Talent: synonymous with creativity and innovation, this is the precise definition of the essence of F.P.Journe.

These values were chosen to symbolize the Manufacture; their initials make the word “A.R.T.”. An acronym that embodies the importance of the partnership with artgenève.

F.P.Journe continues his involvement in the art world as the horological partner of artmonte-carlo, from 14 to 16 July 2022 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
